Research Areas
I am a doctoral student of Psychological sciences at the University of Padova. The main topics of my PhD are “consciousness” as a state of experiencing and “embodied cognition”. Recent models of consciousness focused on connectivity and communication between neurons as a system able to integrate complex information. Under this view, conscious experience comes from many neural networks like those responsible for emotional states or for perception. One central question within this theoretical framework concerns the link between conscious perception and embodiment, in particular I am interested in understanding whether and how bodily states may influence consciousness.
All the experiments carried out so far focused on the interaction between the sensory-motor processes and visual awareness and how they build our conscious content.
